Historically I’ve been more of the listener, having always been an empath, and so, looking to understand people.
I do have to say though, that there are plenty of people who are happy to be ‘listened to.’
Many of these people assume the floor is theirs, take full ownership of that floor —and then leave.
In other words, some want to only be heard, and then they’re on to their next one-sided conversation. And as there’s a sense that this is their ‘right,’ there’s less of the bonding that you speak about.
I worked in entertainment for 20 years here in NY, and met many many people who were happy to speak the entire time — and not necessarily leave the meeting having bonded in this process.
But conceptually I’m in total agreement that being a good listener is a fantastic objective! Thanks!
