Let’s Change This Toxic Culture

An optimist hopes for a more responsible media

We’ve seen the debilitating impact of ‘bad news after bad news’ cycle.

The outrage, the arguments, the drama. Oh, this is good theater! And for the networks, this is what it is. And it’s all about ratings. It has very little to do with informing us about any real news.

I feel dispirited a lot of the time. These four years have been a barrage of negative news, primarily brought on by all of the media using Trump as clickbait every single day.

And for myself, who’s always been an optimist when it came to the leaders of the country, I’ve now seen the careerist political realm for what it is. Highly ambitious individuals looking to be in power no matter what the cost to the country.

Politicians — You need to be better than this. Or leave. We need better than you.

The media have not been our friends here. They’ve chosen ratings above all, and we’ve all followed this clickbait, feeling outraged on a daily basis.

And where does all this outrage go? I’m pretty sure it’s not made for a healthier home environment. I’m sure it hasn’t meant less violence on the streets. I’m sure it hasn’t brought peace and calm to the nation.
