A Walk In The Rain Turns Sublime
Nature has its way with me when I choose to take notice
It’s cloudy overhead. Best take my cap, just in case.
Not the best day for a walk, but it’s become habitual now.
Yes, I know, I’d be better off jogging daily, but that I’d dread, whereas who hates walking? So a walk it is.
Along the way, it begins to drizzle, not enough to turn back, just enough for me to get used to the idea I’ll be walking in the rain.
I have two options for my walks. Either a nearby high school running track or a walk in a large park. Both are nearby, but the track has the advantage of not having any obstacles underfoot, such as branches, uneven pavement. I can even read on it while I’m walking at a relatively quick pace.
(Yes, I try to read wherever and whenever I can. So many books, so few days on earth).
Having arrived at the school, I’m walking, no gadget in hand today, just looking to experience some outdoorsiness. And now the rain’s really beginning to come down.
It seems I have a choice — Admit defeat and make my way home and sharpish, or just go with it. Don’t rush and take my walk as intended.
